Grown by Permata Gayo co-operative, a group of producers in rural northern Sumatra, Indonesia. The Fairtrade premium has been invested in their business and community in the Gayo Highlands, including initiatives to avoid herbicide use and train co-op members. Wet hulled Gayo-1 (Tim-Tim), Gayo-2 (Bourbon, and Ateng beans give a dark chocolate and cocoa taste with a touch of spiciness and a pleasant juicy acidity at lower roast levels. This product is accredited with Ethical Consumers Best Buy label based on their research into the environmental and ethical record of both the product and company supplying it.
