I became veggie at 6 years old and in a traditional Scottish family that served meat and 2 veg for dinner - I survived on 2 veg for a long time until my mum happened on Sosmix, and some other things that became staples back in the day - like many versions of Beanfeast, Back to the Sosmix - even my carnivore daughter loves the stuff and has since she was a baby. I "lost" sosmix for years and tried alternatives - but it just was not the same, I promised my daughter I would find the authentic blend and have bought her a 1 kg pack for her as she plans to convert her partner to sosmix (of course I bought 1 for me :) ) I have just made my first small batch, I used shallot onions, some tomato paste (my mum used to use tomato paste to make it look like authentic lorne sausage), paprika paste, white pepper, black pepper, some garlic paste and a touch of sea salt. I cannot wait to taste it. Yum yum for my tum.
