Hear From Heather: Survey Response

We’re thrilled to launch a new column on The Alternative Blog: Hear From Heather! Hosted by Alternative Stores' owner, Heather Mills – a passionate vegan, business owner, and dedicated animal rights campaigner – this series will feature her insights on vegan products, industry news, and more.

Following from our customer service just a few weeks ago, Heather has joined us for her first column to discuss the current harsh reality of the vegan industry. You can hear Heather talk about how the plant-based movement is facing pushback with the meat and dairy industry backed by major subsidies and marketing budgets - spreading misleading information to slow down the shift towards vegan alternatives. 

Despite the interest in sustainable food, government subsidies still overwhelmingly favour meat and dairy. If redirected towards plant-based farming - we would see a major change for the planet, our health and the vegan food industry. 

Supermarkets often show support for small vegan brands to begin with using them to build customer interest. Only to replace them with cheaper private-label versions, forcing those same businesses that they initially supported - out of business all together. 

To see meaningful change, we need to support vegan brands regularly - not just occasionally. Your loyalty is what helps the businesses to survive, thrive and grow the vegan movement.
